Ogun Police Launch Manhunt for Abducted Students

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for gunmen who abducted an unspecified number of individuals, suspected to be students, from a private hostel in the Ipara area of Ogun State. The incident occurred on the night of July 29, 2026, targeting a student hostel along Paraga Road, where students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapaade, reside off-campus.

The attack, which took place around 7:45 PM, involved gunfire but resulted in no fatalities among the students. The Students’ Union Government, represented by President Timothy Akinpelu and Public Relations Officer Francis Mathew, clarified that the attack did not happen on the polytechnic campus and that the number of abducted individuals remains unverified.

The Ogun State Police, led by Police Public Relations Officer Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the commencement of coordinated rescue operations immediately after receiving a distress report, deploying tactical teams and intelligence assets to track down the abductors.
