Three Kidnappers Killed in Ogun State Police Operation

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed that three suspected kidnappers, who had abducted five students from Gateway ICT Polytechnic in Sapaade, Ogun State, were killed in a gun duel with security operatives. CSP Ani Iniedu stated that the police anti-kidnapping unit, alongside the Department of State Security, tracked the kidnappers to their hideout.

During the confrontation, three suspects were neutralised, while others fled with gunshot injuries. Six students were rescued unhurt following intense security pressure.

The operation, which involved the Nigeria Police Force, Armed Forces, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), local vigilantes, and hunters, was bolstered by the deployment of a police helicopter for aerial surveillance, approved by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one empty magazine, three mobile phones, and N2.3 million.

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring safety in the state.
