Five Students Abducted in Ogun State Hostel Attack

On Wednesday at approximately 7:45 p.m., suspected armed bandits attacked a private student hostel along Paraga Road in Ipara-Remo, Ogun State. The assault lasted around 30 minutes, during which the assailants fired gunshots and abducted five students, as confirmed by the Students’ Union Government (SUG).

Although some reports suggested that eight students were taken, the SUG clarified that only five were affected. The isolated location of the hostel, surrounded by thick bush, hindered timely responses from nearby residents.

Fortunately, no students lost their lives, and some managed to escape through the ceiling. Following the incident, the polytechnic management suspended the examination scheduled for Thursday, while assuring that the examination for the next day would proceed unless further notice was given.

The SUG, led by President Akinpelu Bukunmi Timothy, urged the community to disregard false information circulating on social media regarding the incident. The matter has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force, and local security operatives are searching nearby forests for the abducted students.
