Nine Kidnapped in Kogi State, FRSC Officials Among Victims
On Thursday, around 6 PM, nine individuals, including two officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), were kidnapped along the Ochadamu-Ejul road in Ofu Local Government Area, Kogi State. The victims were en route to the burial of former Deputy Corps Commander Augustin Ikwu in Otukpo, Benue State, when gunmen ambushed their vehicle.
Lawal Fagg, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, confirmed the incident. The abductors seized the nine individuals and later abandoned the deceased officer's body near Ejul community, which was recovered on Friday.
The kidnappers contacted the deceased officer's wife via mobile phone, demanding a ransom of N450 million for the release of the victims. Security sources, including police officers, soldiers, and local hunters, have been deployed to comb the forest around Ochadamu and Ejul in search of the victims.
The incident has drawn condemnation from Senator Abba Moro, who described the attack as inhuman.
