Kogi Police Intensify Rescue Operations After Kidnapping

The Kogi State Police Command has escalated search and rescue operations in response to a kidnapping incident along the Okene-Auchi Road. A statement from the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Salisu Afusat, detailed that the operation involves a coordinated deployment of police and military personnel to suspected hideouts in forest areas.

Following the incident, the Command initiated intelligence-driven bush-combing operations, particularly around Ebiya Forest and adjoining areas. The operation includes personnel from various units, such as the Area Command, 77 Police Mobile Force Squadron, and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, along with support from the Edo State Police Command.

Security forces have identified and searched suspected hideouts, recovering items like foodstuffs and a National Identity Card. Although no victims have been found yet, the operation continues with tactical teams advancing towards identified locations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, has directed the teams to persist in their efforts until the victims are recovered and the perpetrators apprehended.
