Kogi Police Seize 342 Wraps of Suspected Indian Hemp

On May 9, 2026, the Kogi State Police Command conducted an operation in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, resulting in the interception of a Honda Pilot vehicle that was conveying a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp. The operation, part of the police's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, led to the arrest of two suspects.

A preliminary assessment revealed that the vehicle contained 342 wraps of the suspected substance. The police also reported an attempted compromise of the operation, where an offer of five million naira (₦5,000,000) was made to influence the process.

The Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, Nazir Bello Kankarofi, commended the operation, describing it as vigilant and professional, and reaffirmed the command's commitment to fighting crime and ensuring public safety. The police urged the public to support security agencies in their ongoing operations against criminal elements.
