Kano State Launches Youth Summit to Combat Hate Speech and Fake News

The Kano State Police Command, in partnership with civil society groups and the Kano State Government, has initiated a youth summit to address the growing concerns of hate speech and fake news circulating in the media, posing threats to peace and socio-economic development. The event, attended by key figures like Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori and other stakeholders, emphasized the importance of combating misinformation and promoting responsible social media use.

Various speakers highlighted the role of different media platforms in shaping public opinion and stressed the need for ethical reporting to prevent tensions and promote unity. The summit also focused on enhancing security through collaborative efforts among security agencies, communities, and youth groups.

Special emphasis was placed on preparing for the upcoming 2027 elections amidst rising tensions and misinformation.
