Abia Police Neutralize Kidnappers, Arrest Nine Suspects

The Abia State Police Command reported the neutralization of three kidnappers and the arrest of nine suspects as part of ongoing efforts against crime in the state. This operation, which took place between April 1 and April 14, 2026, was led by intelligence-driven initiatives.

Police Commissioner Danladi Isa highlighted the achievements, including the recovery of ten AK-47 rifles, two locally made pistols, three single-barrel guns, one pump-action gun, and 44 rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, three vehicles and various items such as cash, phones, gunpowder, and walkie-talkies were seized.

Among the arrested were eight males and one female, charged with offenses including kidnapping, vehicle theft, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms. Notably, Ngumoha Ogechi, a 63-year-old male, was apprehended for allegedly abducting a 16-year-old girl and withdrawing approximately 200,000 naira using the victim's parents' ATM card.

Another suspect, Godstim Chinasa, a 20-year-old male, was arrested for allegedly taking a 15-year-old girl into the bush.
