Police Kill Two Kidnappers, Arrest One in Abuja Operation

On May 3, 2026, the FCT Police Command conducted a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence to dislodge a six-man kidnapping syndicate in the Karshi area, near the border of Abuja and Nasarawa State. During the operation, the suspects opened fire on the police, resulting in a gun battle that led to the deaths of two kidnappers and the arrest of one.

The gang leader, identified as Baba Ibrahim, also known as Tsoho, was neutralized, while three other gang members escaped with bullet wounds. The police recovered two AK-47 rifles, one pistol, and seventeen rounds of live ammunition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate, led by Baba Ibrahim, was involved in multiple kidnapping incidents across Gwagwalada, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, and Karshi, with at least twelve victims abducted. The syndicate was also implicated in serious crimes, including sexual assault and murder.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Ahm Muham Sanusi, commended the operation and urged medical practitioners to report any suspicious gunshot wounds.
