Police Neutralize Bandits, Recover Explosives in Zamfara

On May 26, 2026, the Zamfara State Police Command, led by spokesperson DSP Yazoo Abubakar, reported the neutralization of two bandits during a gunfight in Bungudu Local Government Area. The incident occurred when armed hoodlums invaded the Funtur area of Rugar Buda Village, prompting a swift response from police personnel stationed in Nahuc.

During the encounter, two bandits were killed, while a 35-year-old resident, Kabiru Auwal, sustained a gunshot injury to his left hand and is currently receiving treatment. Following this, on May 25, 2026, a newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) collaborated with an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) team to conduct a sweep along Bilbi Kuncin Kalgo Road.

They discovered a pressure plate improvised explosive device, suspected to be planted by terrorists targeting security personnel and civilians. The EOD team successfully neutralized the device without casualties and ensured public safety.
