Police Foil Bandit Attack in Sokoto, One Killed

On Friday, police in Sokoto received a distress call regarding a large number of armed bandits invading a community. The Sokoto Police Command's Anti-Kidnap Unit, Vehicle Crime Response Unit (VCRU), and tactical team were immediately deployed to the scene.

A prolonged gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to retreat into the forest. During the operation, police neutralized one suspect and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

The command expressed confidence in intensifying patrols in the area to reassure residents and prevent further attacks. The neighboring division police headquarters was placed on alert to monitor the situation.

CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa commended the officers involved for their bravery and reaffirmed the command's commitment to tackling banditry and protecting lives and property across Sokoto State.
