Ogun Police Neutralize Kidnappers, Rescue Truck Driver

The Ogun State Police Command reported that its Anti-Kidnapping Unit neutralized two suspected kidnappers and successfully rescued a professional truck driver during a counter-operation. The truck driver had been abducted on August 25, 2026, at approximately 11:10 PM in the Ajibawo area of Ibese, Ogun State.

Following the report of the kidnapping, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on actionable intelligence and targeted the kidnappers' hideout along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road. During the operation, two kidnappers were killed, while other gang members fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

The police recovered two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, two mobile phones, and ₦2 million, suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities. The bodies of the deceased kidnappers have been taken to the morgue for autopsy, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members.
