Police Investigate Death of 80-Year-Old in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has initiated an investigation following the death of 80-year-old Paul Onwualu, who was reportedly beaten during a confrontation related to his aspiration for a traditional stool in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area. The incident occurred when individuals opposed to Onwualu's claim allegedly stormed his residence, leading to a violent altercation.

Eyewitnesses reported that police officers were involved in the operation, which resulted in Onwualu being assaulted and subsequently collapsing. He was taken to Iyi Enu Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

His wife, Anthonia Onwualu, confirmed the brutal assault and expressed her grief over the incident. Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga stated that the officers involved have been identified, and the command is committed to a thorough investigation.

Commissioner of Police Ikioy Orutugu urged the public to remain calm as the investigation unfolds.
