Ondo Police Arrest Notorious Kidnap Kingpin Abdullahi Lawal

The Ondo State Police Command announced the arrest of Abdullahi Lawal, a notorious kidnap kingpin, on Tuesday. Lawal, the leader of a kidnapping gang, was implicated in the abduction of Aremu Tijani on August 18, 2025, at Tijani's bush farm in Ikar Akoko.

The arrest followed a coordinated operation based on sustained intelligence gathering. During a previous encounter, Lawal managed to escape despite sustaining gunshot injuries.

The police intensified surveillance and discreet investigations over several months, leading to his eventual apprehension. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command's spokesperson, confirmed that Lawal confessed to his involvement and will be charged in court.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the dedication of the officers involved and reiterated the command's commitment to dismantling criminal networks in the state. The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
