Police Neutralize Suspected Kidnapper on Lafia-Akwanga Highway

The Nasarawa State Police Command reported that a patrol team from the Nasarawa Eggon Division responded to an attempted kidnapping incident near a rice mill in Nasarawa Eggon. Unknown armed men had barricaded the Lafia-Akwanga Highway.

Upon sighting the police, the suspects opened fire, prompting a swift response from the police, which resulted in the neutralization of one suspect. The other suspects fled, possibly sustaining gunshot wounds.

The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro, mobilized a reinforcement team to secure the area and restore normalcy to the highway, ensuring safety for motorists. The deceased suspect was identified as Auta Habu, who was reportedly involved in several criminal activities.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing gang members.
