Police, NSCDC Comment On Babura/Garki By-election In Jigawa

The recent Babura/Garki by-election in Jigawa, conducted by INEC, received praise from the Police and NSCDC for the calm and disciplined atmosphere maintained during the polls. The Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer highlighted the strong security presence and voter compliance with electoral guidelines as key factors in the success of the election.

The NSCDC spokesperson also commended the synergy among security agencies and cooperation from voters. While a minor issue occurred in a polling unit in Babura town, security personnel promptly intervened to restore order.

The security forces worked closely with INEC to prevent disruptions across the constituency. Despite a glitch in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), the INEC official in Jigawa confirmed that the state did not experience any major technical failures during the exercise.

The declaration of results is pending as the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Jigawa was unavailable for comment.
