Police Arrest Suspects in Akwa Ibom Murder Case

On July 14, 2026, at 8:30 PM, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command received a report regarding the murder of 26-year-old Nsikak Joshua Oboetim in Ikot Ekong Village, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area. The victim's father, Eker, alleged that Otobong Nelson, alongside Inemesit Robert and Utib Clement, beat his son to death.

The suspects reportedly brought the corpse to the father’s residence, demanding that a grave be dug for burial within the compound. They threatened against reporting the incident to the police.

Following the report, police commenced an investigation, leading to the arrest of Otobong Nelson on July 17, 2026, at 3:45 PM. During interrogation, Nelson confessed to the murder and implicated the other suspects.

The police condemned the act and assured the public that all involved would face justice. The deceased's body was exhumed for autopsy.
