AIG Dantawaye Urges Anambra Police to Avoid Indiscriminate Arrests

On an official visit to the Anambra State Police Command, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye cautioned police operatives against the indiscriminate arrest and detention of suspects to appease complainants. He declared that the era of impunity and uninvited interference in public matters was over.

Dantawaye emphasized the importance of treating the public with civility and respect, stating that officers must maintain the integrity of the force and improve their level of neatness. He warned District Police Officers (DPO) against maintaining dirty environments and stated that he would not tolerate impunity or indiscipline among officers in Zone 13 Ukpo.

Dantawaye encouraged officers to suggest Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods to complainants instead of resorting to arrests. He announced that under his leadership, officers would receive training in various areas, including arms handling, intelligence gathering, and investigation procedures.
