Benue Police Pay N22.3m to Families of Fallen Officers

On Friday, the Benue State Police Command presented a cheque of N22.3 million to the families of 16 personnel who died in active service. The presentation took place in Makurdi, with Ifeanyi Emenari, the Commissioner of Police in Benue State, urging the beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds.

The money, drawn from the police welfare scheme, includes group life assurance and group accident benefits. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of finance, Moham Yakubu, conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased personnel, stating that while the money cannot replace the lives lost, it aims to cushion the effects of their deaths within the first year.

Emenari advised beneficiaries to invest the funds in businesses to help them become self-reliant. He acknowledged the ultimate sacrifice made by the brave officers and expressed hope that God would grant the families the strength to bear their loss.
