Sokoto Police on High Alert for Planned Bandit Attack

The Sokoto State Police Command has placed Kebbe Local Government Area on red alert following intelligence reports indicating a planned attack by suspected bandits. This announcement was made on Thursday, with the police intensifying security measures to safeguard residents.

DSP Ahmed Rufai, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, confirmed the imminent threat, stating that the command is committed to protecting the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens in Sokoto State. Reports indicate that the suspected bandits have demanded a N40 million levy from residents of Kebbe town, threatening to kill residents and burn the town if the payment is not made.

Local sources have suggested that the bandits have set Friday for the planned attack and are reportedly mobilizing additional criminal elements for reinforcement. This threat follows a recent deadly bandit attack on Kebbe and surrounding communities, which resulted in several fatalities and numerous abductions.
