Abia Police Launch Campaign Against Cultism After Shooting

On Tuesday, the Abia State Police Command initiated a campaign against cultism in response to the recent shooting of a young man on Udi Street, Enugu Road, Umuahia. The victim was reportedly shot in the head by an unknown assailant on Monday afternoon.

Following this incident, the police organized a walkathon at Okpara Square, Umuahia, to raise awareness and encourage the public to refrain from engaging in criminal activities, particularly cultism. The campaign is part of a broader national initiative by the Nigeria Police Force, coinciding with the 2026 Commission of Police.

DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer for the Abia Command, emphasized the importance of strengthening police-community relations through this outreach effort. CP Danladi also attended the event, highlighting the commitment of the police to combat social vices in the state.
