Police Investigate Motorcyclist's Death in Oyo Incident

On Saturday, a commercial motorcyclist died in Iseyin, Oyo, during an encounter with police at a checkpoint. Reports indicate that the incident began when the motorcyclist refused to stop for police officers, leading to a confrontation where he was allegedly struck on the head with a baton.

The Oyo State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlad, confirmed that the officers involved in the incident have been ordered to be detained pending the outcome of a thorough investigation. The motorcyclist fell from his motorcycle and was subsequently rushed to a medical facility, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Following the incident, a brief protest occurred in Iseyin, but the situation was quickly brought under control, and the crowd was peacefully dispersed.

Authorities assured that justice would be served.
