Police Arrest Eight for Cultism in Anambra Raid

On April 16, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command intensified its crackdown on criminal elements by raiding a notorious hideout in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area. The operation, carried out by the special anti-cult unit, resulted in the arrest of eight suspects linked to cult-related activities.

The arrested individuals, all males, include Chidalu Nwafor (27), Chiemeri Nwazuej (24), Chima Arwuik (25), Jideobi Emeka (26), Oliv Okonkwo (18), Izuchukwu Christian (18), Onyebuchi (21), and Walter Idouzour (44). During the raid, police recovered various quantities of cannabis sativa, a dangerous drug.

The police emphasized that illicit drug use remains a significant enabler of crime, particularly among youth involved in cult activities. The suspects are currently undergoing profiling and will be charged accordingly.

The command reassured the public of its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at dislodging criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of residents in Anambra State.
