Delta Police Arrest Seven in Cult Raid, Recover Firearms

On May 11, 2026, the Delta State Police Command executed an operation in Eku Igun, Ethiope West Local Government Area, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects connected to unlawful societies. The operation, led by the Anti-Cult Unit, was based on credible intelligence and occurred at approximately 2:30 PM.

During the raid, police recovered a locally made single-barrel gun, a double-barrel pistol, and two live cartridges. SP Bright Edaf stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects' involvement in cult-related killings and violent crimes in Eku Igun and the neighboring Abraka community.

Additionally, on May 13, 2026, police intercepted a 32-year-old suspect, Mokwuny Princ Jerri, during a routine stop and search operation, recovering six packets of live cartridges from his motorcycle. Preliminary investigations revealed that Jerri claimed to be a member of a hunter vigilante group in Ibusa.

CP Yemi Oyeniyi commended the operation and urged residents to remain vigilant and support police efforts.
