Police Recover Rifles After Accident; Mob Kills Suspect

On February 17 at 9:50 PM, the Niger State Police recovered three AK-47 rifles and six magazines after a motorcycle accident involving two unidentified armed suspects near the Boyi Sarki Toll Gate. The incident occurred while the suspects were riding a motorcycle from Tafa in Kaduna State towards Abuja.

Following a distress call, police officers on stop-and-search duty responded to the scene, where civilians had gathered. The suspects were reportedly injured from the accident, and while searching their belongings, the police discovered the firearms.

One suspect was later killed by a mob, while the other was taken to Umar Musa Yar'Adua General Hospital for treatment. The recovered weapons included a breach number 23130 and 30 rounds of live ammunition, with three magazines found—one fully loaded with 14 rounds and two empty.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
