Police Repel Boko Haram/ISWAP Attacks in Borno State

The Borno State Police Command confirmed the successful repulsion of coordinated attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Nganzai and Damasak on Saturday. The first attack occurred at 1:00 AM when armed insurgents stormed the Nganzai Division police headquarters, leading to a fierce gun battle that involved advanced weaponry, including rocket-propelled grenades.

Four police personnel lost their lives during the exchange of fire. A second attack at 2:40 AM targeted the Mallam Fatori Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, where members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were present.

During this assault, a member of the CJTF, identified as Atom Abua, was killed, and 20 thatched houses were destroyed. Despite the attacks, the combined security teams, including police, military, and local hunters, responded quickly to repel the insurgents and prevent further damage.

In response to the incidents, CP Naziru Abdulmajid deployed additional manpower and operational assets to strengthen security in the affected areas.
