Kaduna Police Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims in Ambush

On Wednesday, the Kaduna State Police Command successfully rescued nine kidnapping victims in an operation in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. The police acted on credible intelligence regarding the abduction of several farmers near Unguwan Sa Idu village, a few kilometers from Birnin Gwari town.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Birnin Gwari mobilized a patrol team, including personnel from the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Kaduna Vigilante Service (KADVIS). During the operation, the police engaged in a gun duel with the armed bandits, who subsequently fled into the bush, abandoning the victims.

The rescued individuals were identified as Hudu Rabiu (31), Yusuf Sagir (20), Sagir Rabiu (17), Muhammad Kabir (23), Kabir Lawal (20), Idri Abubakar (17), Mustapha Zayyanu (18), Kabiru Rabiu (18), and Usman Lawal (18). They were found unharmed and later reunited with their families.

Tragically, during the operation, two police officers sustained gunshot wounds due to an ambush by the bandits. The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, expressed condolences to the families of the fallen officers, acknowledging their bravery and dedication.
