Edo Police Rescue 70-Year-Old Abducted Man in Edo State

On April 20, 2026, Pa Jonah Owobu Uwalo, a 70-year-old man from Uromi in Edo State, was abducted while working on his farm. His wife reported his disappearance at 21:30 hours, after unknown individuals contacted the family demanding a ransom of 30 million naira for his release.

The Edo State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, mobilized a joint team comprising police operatives, military personnel, and local hunters to conduct a swift search and rescue operation. By April 21, 2026, at 07:10 hours, the command received the report and initiated the operation.

The team located the victim's abandoned motorcycle and followed the trail deeper into the forest, eventually finding the hideout where he was held. The suspects fled into the bush during the operation, but the victim was successfully rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.

The police reiterated their commitment to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
