Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman in Enugu Operation

On July 31, at approximately 10:10 a.m., armed men abducted a woman along Anuka Road in Okpuje, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State. Following a distress call, the Enugu State Police Command, led by SP Daniel Ndukwe, mobilized police operatives, Forest Guards, and members of the Neighbourhood Watch to pursue the kidnappers.

The operation led to a gun battle in a forest near the Enugu-Kogi State boundary, resulting in the neutralization of one suspect while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds. The kidnapped woman was rescued unharmed, and her two children and a motorcycle left behind by the kidnappers were secured.

The woman and her children have been reunited with their family. Commissioner of Police Mamman Giwa commended the collaborative efforts of the security team and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against violent crime, urging residents to provide timely information to the police.
