Enugu Police Arrest 14 Kidnap Suspects, Recover Weapons

The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended 14 suspects linked to kidnapping activities in the state, as announced by Commissioner of Police Mr Mamman Giwa during a news briefing on Friday. The arrests were part of intelligence-led operations targeting major kidnap syndicates.

The police recovered significant weaponry, including five AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, and 310 rounds of live ammunition. Recent operations also led to the rescue of victims from Ogbozara Community in Nsukka LGA and Owukpa Community in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue.

Notably, one victim was rescued from a church in Affa Community on August 2. The operations resulted in the arrest of additional suspects who had fled to Port Harcourt after the initial operations.

Investigations revealed that these suspects were part of an organized criminal network that converged in Enugu to plan kidnappings. The police indicated that the suspects had confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
