Lender Consult Denies Mismanagement of Police Funds

Shina Philips, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lender Consult International, issued a statement in response to allegations published on March 3, 2026, claiming that funds allocated for Nigeria Police conferences were mismanaged. Philips described the report as false and misleading, asserting that it failed to present the full story.

The Nigeria Police conference retreat, part of an initiative to build capacity within the police force, has been supported by Lender Consult since its inception in 2019. The first conference was held in Lagos in 2019, with subsequent events in Uyo (February 2022), Owerri (2022), Abeokuta (2024), and another planned for 2025.

Philips emphasized that neither he nor his company received any funds from the police for these conferences. The firm has also proposed the introduction of the Nigeria Police Award to recognize outstanding officers.

Lender Consult has maintained a professional relationship with senior police officials and has been involved in various projects aimed at police reform.
