Police and School Deny Cover-Up in Toddler's Death

The Rivers State Police Command confirmed receipt of an autopsy report regarding the death of two-year-old Winni Akeku, who allegedly suffered injuries when a bookshelf fell on her in a classroom at Wisdom Gate International School, Obio Akpor Local Government Area, on March 17. The police denied allegations of withholding the autopsy report from the parents, stating that it is a public document.

Grace Iring Koko, a spokesperson for the police, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation. Dr.

Lasuaka Akeku, Winni's father, reported that the school quickly moved the bookshelf and took his daughter to two different hospitals after the incident. The family claims they faced pressure from the school to settle the matter quietly.

Winni's mother, Chinyer Akeku, expressed distress over the loss and the circumstances surrounding it, demanding justice for her daughter.
