Delta Police Dismantle Kidnap Syndicate, Recover Weapons

The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola, successfully dismantled a kidnapping syndicate operating in the bush along Iyed Axi in Ughelli North Local Government Area. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.

Police spokesman Bright Edaf reported that three suspects were arrested: Usman Ayuba (22, from Iyed community), Ibrahim Abubakar (22, from Akwa Ibom State), and Haruna Dahiru (23, from Iyed community). Following thorough interrogation, the suspects provided information that led to the recovery of 25 rounds of live ammunition on February 26, 2026, and an AK-47 rifle on February 27, 2026.

The police also identified a female victim who was abducted on February 4, 2026, from Olu Avenue, Ughelli, and released three days later after a ransom of two million naira was paid to the suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
