Police Summon SDP Leaders Amid Leadership Crisis

The Nigeria Police have summoned leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) due to an ongoing leadership crisis. SDP National Chairman Sadiq Gomb confirmed that he was informed of the police invitation, although he had not personally received a formal notice.

The invitation is linked to disputes within the party and follows failed attempts to move the party's secretariat. Gomb stated that the police's invitation comes after a letter was sent to the Inspector General of Police requesting an investigation into alleged financial misconduct involving the expelled national chairman, Shehu Gabam, amounting to N626 million.

Gabam, alongside Uchechukwu and Clarkson Nnadi, was expelled for alleged financial impropriety. The crisis escalated after Gabam attempted to reclaim control of the party's structure with armed policemen.

The SDP leadership insists that internal party affairs should remain exclusive to the party and not be influenced by external bodies like INEC.
