Kano Police Launch Violent Crime Response Unit in Kano

The Kano State Police Command, led by Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has formally established a Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to tackle armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in the state. This initiative, announced by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, aligns with directives from the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Act of 2020.

The VCRU is designed as a specialized, intelligence-driven tactical unit that will operate under strict adherence to human rights standards and best practices in professional conduct. The unit will focus on suppressing, investigating, and prosecuting cases related to violent crime.

Additionally, a dedicated public complaint hotline and physical complaint desk will be set up to enhance community engagement, ensuring that complaints are acknowledged and responded to within 24 hours. The Kano State Police Command urges public cooperation to provide credible information, emphasizing a commitment to transparency and regular updates on the unit's activities and achievements.
