Police Advise Ondo Churches, Mosques to Halt Night Services

The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State, represented by State Commissioner Mr. Adebowale Lawal, has urged religious leaders from both Christian and Muslim traditions to suspend night services due to ongoing security challenges.

This advisory follows the kidnapping of six members of the Celestial Church during a midnight service on February 25, which occurred along the Uso-Owo expressway in Owo Local Government Area. The victims included pregnant women and individuals with physical challenges.

The police reported that a ransom of N100 million was demanded for their release, and the victims were rescued following police intervention. Mr.

Lawal emphasized the importance of monitoring religious activities during the day for safety and advised religious leaders to consult with the police before planning special activities. He highlighted that no one had informed the police about the night service, which complicates their ability to ensure safety.
