Gunmen Abduct Worshippers in Ondo Church Raid

In the early hours of a Sunday morning, gunmen raided a church in Ondo, abducting worshippers who were attending a prayer session at approximately 12:50 AM. The police, under the direction of Jimoh Abayomi, responded promptly to the distress call, deploying operatives to the area.

They collaborated with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups to commence a coordinated rescue operation. Abayomi disclosed that security forces made significant progress in rescuing the abducted worshippers and arresting suspects connected to the attack.

The operation resulted in the successful rescue of some victims and the apprehension of individuals linked to the kidnapping. The police spokesperson assured that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and to apprehend all perpetrators involved.

This incident marks the latest in a series of kidnappings, as just four days prior, gunmen reportedly kidnapped a couple in the Ilu Abo community of Akure North Local Government Area, raising security concerns in the state.
