Ogun Police Warn Against Violent Protests, Confirm Arrests

The Ogun State Police Command issued a warning against violent protests that could disrupt public peace, following incidents in Sagamu where commercial motorcyclists blocked Oba Erinwol Gra Road on April 7, 2026. During a press briefing on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi, representing Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, emphasized that the command would not tolerate unlawful assemblies or violent actions.

The police intervened to disperse the gathering, leading to the arrest of 10 principal suspects connected to the incident. A coordinated operation on April 13 resulted in the arrest of 146 suspects across multiple security agencies, with those found culpable undergoing screening before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution.

The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order and urged residents to express grievances through lawful means, appreciating the support of local authorities and traditional rulers in Sagamu.
