Lagos Auto Dealer Alleges Police Threatened to Shoot and Extorted N100,000

Quadri Balogun, a Lagos-based auto dealer, reported an incident where policemen in Ikorodu allegedly threatened to shoot him and extorted N100,000 from him and his friend during a stop. The police reportedly assaulted them, seized their belongings, and demanded money, escalating their demand from N5 million to N100,000 before releasing them.

Balogun described the experience as traumatic and highlighted the recurring issue of police extortion in the state. Similar incidents of police extortion have been reported in the past, indicating a concerning trend of abuse of power and corruption within the police force.
