Malami Criticizes EFCC for Politically Motivated Raid

Abubakar Malami, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, expressed concern over an armed raid conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at his residence in Abuja. He described the operation as politically motivated intimidation, noting that it occurred shortly after a visit from prominent figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Malami questioned the legality of the EFCC's actions, demanding to see the court order that authorized the raid, which followed an interim forfeiture order granted by the court. He highlighted that the court had previously ordered that individuals be notified 14 days in advance before any property entry.

Malami emphasized his determination to pursue constitutional rights despite the intimidation and asserted that he would exercise his right to vote. The EFCC, through its spokesman Dele Oyewale, defended the raid as a normal law enforcement procedure following the forfeiture order.
