YPP Urges FG to Identify Terror Financiers, Support State Police

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) called on the federal government to unmask and prosecute individuals and organizations financing terrorism in Nigeria, asserting that insecurity will persist unless these sponsors are brought to justice. During a press conference in Abuja, YPP National Chairman Bishop Amakiri criticized the current administration for its failure to effectively confront insecurity, highlighting the ongoing rehabilitation and reintegration of repentant terrorists while victims continue to suffer.

He noted that despite an estimated N25 trillion spent on defense and security over the past decade, there has been no significant improvement in the welfare of military personnel or a reduction in terrorist activities. Amakiri also pointed out the continued abduction of students and teachers in Oyo and Borno states, urging the federal government to act swiftly against terror financiers.

He emphasized the need for comprehensive investigations into past defense expenditures and called for the establishment of state police to enhance local security responses, while ensuring safeguards to prevent abuse by state governments.
