Islamic Cleric Suspended for Criticizing President Tinubu

Sheikh Alkali Abubakar Salihu Zaria, a prominent Islamic cleric, was suspended by the Jama'atu Izalatil Bid'ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah organization for delivering a sermon that criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's approach to insecurity in Northern Nigeria. The suspension followed a meeting convened by the national chairman of the organization, Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, which included clerics from state and local representatives in Yobe State.

Sheikh Alkali's remarks included strong statements against political figures, accusing them of failing to effectively tackle the rising insecurity, including kidnappings and banditry in the region. He described the tendency of political leaders to fear power rather than God.

Following his suspension, Sheikh Alkali accepted the decision in good faith, stating on his Facebook page that Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir is not a religious leader but a father figure.
