FAAN Enhances Airport Security Through Capacity Building

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), under the management of Mr. Olubunmi Kuku, has initiated a capacity-building program to enhance airport security and management.

This program was developed in response to the need for improved manpower development within the aviation sector. It emphasizes the importance of training personnel in critical areas such as passenger facilitation, airport security, and the management of airport infrastructure.

Last year, FAAN's Director of Aviation Security Services completed professional training for 1,593 aviation security personnel across various specialist areas. The agency has also embarked on improving IT training facilities and has implemented advanced security solutions, including video surveillance and biometric verification systems at airports.

FAAN's efforts align with international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and include the deployment of state-of-the-art screening machines at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, enhancing the detection of potential threats.
