Pantami Identifies Key Challenges for Gombe Ahead of 2027

Professor Isah Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, identified poverty, disunity, and neglect of human development as significant challenges ahead of the 2027 governorship election. In an interview in Abuja, Pantami noted that Gombe is ranked as the third poorest state in Nigeria, with 86.2% of its population living in abject poverty, which he claims contributes to insecurity and social vices.

He emphasized the need for urgent attention to these issues and proposed programs focused on empowering women and youths. Pantami attributed disunity in the state to political manipulation of its diversity and advocated for inclusive participation in governance.

He also expressed concern over human development neglect, particularly in northern Nigeria. His administration would aim to enhance youth skills, address the out-of-school children issue, and modernize agriculture through smart farming techniques.

Pantami, who served as Minister of Digital Economy from 2019 to 2023, highlighted his record of executing 4,334 projects nationwide, including 421 in Gombe State, and called for a debate among candidates.
