NDC's Sadiq Abubakar Challenges PDP's Pantami to Debate

Sadiq Abubakar, the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Gombe State, has publicly challenged Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, the governorship candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and supported by Nyesom Wike, to participate in a public political debate ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election. Abubakar issued this challenge in a statement to reporters in Bauchi, advocating that the debate would allow both candidates to present their policies and visions for Gombe State's development.

He argued that such an event would enable citizens to assess the candidates' intellectual capacities and governance understanding, rather than relying on campaign rhetoric. Abubakar, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2026 to become the NDC's candidate, emphasized that the debate should focus on pressing issues affecting the state and the welfare of its citizens.

He believes this engagement would prioritize Gombe State's future over personal or partisan interests.
