Fire Outbreak in Kwara Residential Building Due to Surge

On Wednesday, 15th, at approximately 28 hours, a fire outbreak occurred in an eight-flat residential building located in Oloj Phase 2 Housing Estate, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State. The incident was confirmed by Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Media and Public Relations for the Kwara State Fire Service.

The fire affected the sitting room and dining area of the building. Firefighters responded promptly to the distress call and successfully brought the fire under control, preventing its spread to nearby properties.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the cause of the fire was attributed to a power surge, and fortunately, no casualties were recorded during the incident. The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service advised residents to always switch off electrical appliances when not in use and to ensure proper maintenance of electrical installations to prevent fire outbreaks caused by power fluctuations or electrical faults.
