NIPR Highlights Communication's Role in Global Influence

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) marked World Public Relations Day by stating that communication is vital for boosting Nigeria's global influence. Dr.

Ik Neliaku, the President of NIPR, noted the significance of this year's observance as Nigeria prepares to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja, scheduled for November 15-21. The forum aims to gather approximately 3,000 delegates from 126 countries, including heads of state, communication professionals, scholars, and business executives.

Neliaku highlighted that this milestone will coincide with the inauguration of the University of Public Relations Leadership (UPRL), described as the world's first specialized university dedicated to public relations leadership studies. Additionally, the forum will see the formal adoption of the Africa Declaration on Professionalism in Public Relations, which aims to strengthen ethical practices and standards across the continent.

NIPR called on practitioners to uphold professional ideals and embrace strategic thinking to advance organizational and national development.
