Presidency Rejects Peter Obi's Death Threat Allegations

The presidency of Nigeria has responded to claims made by Peter Obi regarding death threats he allegedly received, labeling them as false and misleading. Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stated that Obi's allegations are an attempt to draw attention to himself and deflect from his own political challenges.

During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Obi expressed concerns for his safety as he prepares for the 2027 presidential elections, claiming that he feels overwhelmed and pressured. Onanuga accused Obi of being a "pathological serial liar" and suggested that his statements lack substance, aiming to attract undue sympathy.

He emphasized that the current administration is focused on economic reforms rather than targeting Obi or his interests, particularly regarding the stability of Fidel Bank. Onanuga asserted that the government remains committed to improving the welfare of Nigerians and will not be distracted by Obi's claims.
