Tinubu Ends Neglect of FCT Satellite Towns with Water Project

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu declared an end to the neglect of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) satellite towns during the inauguration of a newly completed water supply network in Karu, Abuja. He noted that despite Karu's rapid population growth, residents have continued to rely on unsafe borehole water.

The previous administration left unfulfilled promises, prompting the current government to focus on delivering tangible results. Tinubu emphasized the need for infrastructure projects to benefit ordinary Nigerians, particularly those living outside city centers.

The project, which includes a 194-kilometer secondary and tertiary pipeline network, aims to supply treated potable water to communities such as Karu, Orozo, Jikwoyi, and Kurudu. Minister Nyesom Wike commended the project as an example of exemplary leadership and dedication to infrastructure development.

The contract for the construction of the Karu water supply network was awarded in August 2023 and utilizes the existing Karu reservoir as its source.
