President Tinubu Mandates Mandatory Health Insurance Across MDAs in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has directed the implementation of mandatory health insurance across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria. This directive, in line with the National Health Insurance Act 2022, requires MDAs to enroll their employees in the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) plan.

Additionally, MDAs may opt for supplementary private insurance coverage. The directive also mandates that entities participating in public procurement must present a valid Health Insurance Certificate.

This move aims to ensure that businesses are not unduly constrained and that employees have access to essential healthcare services. The directive covers five key areas, emphasizing the importance of health insurance compliance within the public sector.
